Our Strategy

The ultimate goal of DWP's endeavors is the realization of a strategy of establishing long-term conservation values in various contexts across the country, including functional and sustainable wetlands and stream systems in agricultural landscapes of the Dakotas and upper Mid-West. DWP employs this highly refined strategy to develop significant conservation values reconciled to traditional land uses and practices.  The financial and operational benefits to landowners is extraordinary and provides new opportunities to improve the bottom line for many hard-working families.

Land Management

Through landowner partnerships, DWP is focused on quality land management strategies that: (1) improve agricultural operations through providing convenient offsets to wetland conversion; (2) help producers find new and innovated revenue streams for themselves and their families; and (3) reconcile conservation values with traditional agricultural practices to concurrently maximize land productivity and conservation outcomes.

Habitat Conservation

Of course, a principal outcome of these efforts is extraordinary habitat conservation values such as improved and expanded wetland, stream and other aquatic resources; much improved wildlife and aquatic habitat for a variety of game animals (deer, upland birds, game fish); and long-term protection for the restored habitats, making these vital areas available to future generations to enjoy.
